In the Mood for Love,我更喜歡這個名。

  6. I love "In the Mood for Love" (although it's not my favorite Wong Kar Wai film). Not only is it beautiful, but it also depicts the repressed feelings very well.

About "2046," I didn't think it was on par with "In the Mood for Love" the first time I watched it. However, "2046" is growing on me after watching it a couple more times.

  8. Lin,

I saw "2046" only twice. I liked some parts, but I think overall the film is a bit too ostentatious.

What is your favorite Wong Kar Wai film?

  13. The best WKW movie is definitely Ashes of Time, that's why there's a redux!

Totally agree on Lin on 2046.

    Suddenly crave for WKW's movies.

  15. Yan,

    Thanks anyway.

    - That probably means only that it is Wong Kar Wai's most favorite.

Hey F, it could also mean that WKW knew he screwed it up and wanted a second chance. ;)

You just reminded me that I should watch the redux this weekend - it has been sitting on the shelf for a long time...

no la, if that calls screw up then what should he do with Fallen Angels and As Tear Goes By?

btw, the redux is not really good. the original is certainly beyond compare.

  20. WKW's real screw-up is "My Blueberry Nights." This is the only WKW film I would not want to watch again. I try to blame it all on Norah Jones though.

  21. Lin,

Really? I actually liked it. Norah Jones didn't act well, but David Strathairn and Rachel Weisz were wonderful.

  22. Besides Norah Jones, I remember thinking that I didn't like the dialogues when I walked out of the theatre. It might be odd to say about a director who doesn't use scripts, but I like the dialogues in WKW's films. It just felt to me everything was slightly "off-key" in a sense. - Lin

  26. Lin,

Do you think the Redux is better than the original?

  27. Honestly, I don't think the Redux is that different from the original. I think the colors are much deeper - but it could be that we had a nicer TV now.. Now I'll have to watch the original again on the same TV and see the difference.

It makes me wonder if WKW is playing a mind trick on his fans, that he knows his fans could appreciate Ashes of Time much better now because we have watched more films of his.
